The Answer to the question is all about food miles. After two decades the prices of oil have risen which has affected our society throughout our food prices. The cost of transport and the distance which the food must travel greatly affects our food prices. If the food travels large distances, the cost of transport will be greater. The cost is then passed on to the consumer by way of price increases. Why should we buy food that has travelled kilometres when half the time its out of season/of date and we can grow food in our back yard..A useful tip is to encourage food Iabels on products that tell the consumer how far things have travelled and where they have travelled from.

-Where is the most popular place to import food from?
(HR)

After researching we were all surprised that Japan imports the most food. Japan has imported over 29 billion dollars worth of dairy and meat products. The concerns about imported food are quality problems, high prices, safety problems and the content of what food. Meaning what is in the food.
-What kinds of food products do they import? (HC)
The first most imported items are Tea and Coffee second most imported are Grain, Spaghetti, Cornflakes and Macaroni. Third is Alcoholic beverages and forth Fresh fruit.

-Why do they import food products? (EI)
I've always wondered why do we import food. Well the reason New Zealand imports food is because New Zealand doesn't grow or produce every thing we need/want. For example we can't produce Bananas because of our climate.
-What makes importing food so good? (GJ)
We found out that there is food we may not have ever been introduced to and the only opportunity we get to taste the food is if we travel overseas. Since we have food miles it gives us the opportunity to taste the food.
Here is a video we found that shows you a little bit about Food Miles and how they work. Enjoy it.

So what happens now? What are we going to do about it?
